The Artful Deceiver: Close-Up yet Distant

Grab your favorite beverage, sit in your most comfortable chair, and get ready to join your host Arthur Trace in an interactive close-up magic experience performed live, virtually and privately via Zoom. However, don’t get too cozy because unlike most shows you merely watch this one actually involves you.

You will read people’s minds. You will find playing cards that were merely thought of. And, occasionally, you will have the magic happen inside your hands using some common household items. Simply put: the magic will often happen because of you.

Meet Your Host

Highly acclaimed by his peers as “one of the most creative acts in the world of magic today,” said R.G. Smith, Executive Show Director of The Society of American Magicians; Arthur Trace is only the eighth magician in the history of magic to be awarded The International Brotherhood of Magicians Gold Medal. In 2006 he became a FISM award winner at the World Championships of Magic, and in 2007 Arthur was awarded the Best Cabaret Magic award at The World Magic Awards. In 2015, 2016, and 2018 the Academy of Magical Arts nominated Arthur as Stage Magician of The Year, and in 2018 and 2019 the same organization nominated him as Parlour Magician of The Year.

Being recognized amongst his peers has brought many opportunities, some of which include appearing on national television broadcasts in seven countries, touring China with the WuQiao Circus, performing for Prince Albert II of Monaco at The Princess Grace Theatre, and touring performing arts centers and cruise ships with his show The Artful Deceiver. Recently, Arthur had the honor of headlining The Magical Mystery Show at the legendary Wintergarten Varieté in Berlin, Germany and at The House of Magic in Macau.

What to Expect

Upon booking a virtual performance, you will receive an email with a link that will enable you to join Arthur through your computer’s camera (via Zoom) at the date and time of your scheduled show. This message will also include a small list of household items to supply – playing cards, pencil, paper, etc. – so that you and your group can physically partake in the show.

Your group can be small or large and spread out in various locations provided they are virtually connected to the show via their computers. Larger groups will appoint a moderator who will direct their participation with Arthur.

The show lasts approximately 45 minutes, and everyone is encouraged to interact with Arthur in order to make the magic happen.
